Don’t bother buying a house built by Avalon, they don’t seem to care about communication or quality of their builds. I bought my first home with Avalon at the beginning of 2021. At first it was wonderful, the sales associate was great. Once I signed my contract, things started to go downhill. Possession was delayed almost a year, and communication from the builder turned non-existent during this time. It was so challenging to get any kind of answers about the status of the build, and I had to renegotiate my mortgage rate multiple times without any idea of when I would be able to take possession. During the selection process, no information was given to me about the types of appliances that were part of the “standard” package. Had I known, I would have changed some of the kitchen appliances – particularly the fridge, it is the worst fridge I have ever had. Fast forward to the end of April 2022, I took possession and was rushed through the final walkthroughs. There were multiple flaws that were flagged and ultimately not fixed before move-in. The service department in charge of fixing flaws during the first year has not been helpful at all. It is nearly impossible to get a response to any service ticket. I have tickets from 6 months ago that have not been resolved and it is like pulling teeth trying to get any answers about them. Many of the flaws come from the flooring company they used, Divine Flooring, stay away from them. Terrible workmanship in both the carpet and the vinyl flooring installation, and they too are impossible to get a hold of. Avalon also hired Blue Grass to do the fence and the landscaping around the properties – another terrible choice. They had guaranteed us that the dirt and sod would be laid before winter – it wasn’t. The ground was left untouched all summer and fall, until they finally did the fencing in late November. I’ve experienced issues with everything from faucets and sink drains, to cabinets, door handles, flooring, downspouts, unfinished outdoor paint… the list goes on. I am so tired of trying to get a hold of somebody to fix these things. Do yourself a favour and choose a different builder that actually cares about the quality of their work, communicating with clients, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Do not buy a house built by Avalon Master Builders. Take a drive by the Zen townhouses along Chinook gate in Airdire. You will see falling siding, dirt for landscaping, and very poor quality work. Between Avalon Builders and Blue Grass landscaping Chinook gate townhouses are anything but Zen. Avoid at all cost working with these two companies.
