SGDI is absolutely phenomenal. Rachel and the team far exceeded our expectations. We have built a total of 5 houses, and this is the first time we decided to hire a design firm, and wow did it ever make a difference!

The house we made with the help of SGDI is by far the nicest, most elegant house we could have ever imagined. Everyone who steps foot in our house is in disbelief. I really cannot say how good of a job you guys did. I included a few pictures, but they don't do justice.

When the time came that we were ready to build our dream retirement home on the lake in Summerland, we had a clear vision for the style of home that we wanted, but we really needed a designer who could help us to bring that to reality.

What we wanted was a new house that felt like it had been around for many years – a home with character, and we got that! Our favourite aspects of the design include our master bedroom with ceiling beam detail and large patio, and our ensuite with huge shower and free-standing tub, all looking out over the lake. Special personal touches were added; a ships ladder leading to the attic (I always wanted an attic that I could walk around and store things in) and the lighthouse newel post at the base of the staircase.

We are thrilled with the cohesiveness of the design. We love the warm hardwood floors running throughout to connect the open spaces. The home’s natural color scheme is serene and in balance with the beach/lake area we live in. The details inside and out give this home its character.

I loved everything about the experience of working with SGDI... The investment we made in hiring Sarah to help us with the house design sure paid off! We saved money on costly change orders – we had none – because we started construction with our design complete. It was SO helpful to have clear detailed plans and design documents to provide to our builder, given that we were building the house in Summerland while still living in Vancouver.

From the start of the process, with the vision exercise and then the material sessions where each room design was laid out, I felt like Sarah and her team took what was in my head and made it a reality. It was very collaborative with Sarah being open to hearing our feedback and giving us options. We also feel that having the design complete allowed us to have our house built in a short 9 months, which is unheard of here in the Okanagan. Because all the decisions were made, sourcing and ordering the materials happened early, thereby eliminating any delays. Overall, it was a stress-free and fun experience. I would absolutely refer Sarah Gallop Design to anyone looking to build their house!!

After 4 years of searching, we purchased a home in 2020, in our favourite neighbourhood. It needed a little updating, but the location was perfect, so we knew we had to make it work. We decided to make some upgrades and couldn't think of a better designer to help us than Sarah Gallop. Sarah and her team were quick to visit our home to take measurements and photos. They listened to our wishes with regards to colour schemes, materials, fixtures, and functionality, and took those into consideration throughout the design process. They even helped choose furniture colours and fabrics that would complement the newly renovated areas. They recommended several contractors we could meet for interviews, so we could decide who we'd work best with for these projects. The team at SGDI was always available to troubleshoot with our contractor when the need arose. When on site, the team was always professional and respectful inside our home. Over the course of the next 2.5 years, we slowly renovated parts of our home that needed updating. It was a long process, but we are so thrilled with the outcome and are beyond happy with how things turned out. We plan to be here enjoying our beautiful space for many years to come!

We had a great house plan in hand, but needed an interior designer to ensure that the rest of the house was done properly.
Sarah was able to help us refine our house plans, which was great. As much as they were in good shape, she suggested some subtle things in a few places that we had not thought of, which made things more functional.
The level of detail in the drawings and specifications allowed our builder to execute efficiently and definitely was appreciated by the contractor and trades.

Three years ago we decided to pursue building the perfect house for our family. After a long search we settled on a beautiful property on which to build our forever home. The existing house on this property did not suit our needs and so we decided that the best route to take would be to build a new house to realize exactly what we wanted for our family.

Having lived in our new home for a while now, we love how it functional our fabulous new home is. It is nearly impossible to choose a favorite space in this wonderful house, but if forced to choose the bar/rec room and main floor powder room are the front runners, but my wife has a definite soft spot for the Master Closet. The entire home is very well thought out, extremely functional and aesthetically it provides a wonderful backdrop to showcase family heirlooms that reflect our respective personalities and most treasured memories.

This house is everything that we wanted it to be! Sarah’s team did a wonderful job of capturing the elements we wanted from the initial vision that we presented to them. Looking back at the ideas within the images we originally sent to SGDI during the initial design phase of the project, you can see influences yet our home is a perfectly unique design and one-of-a-kind! We love living here!

“We built our house 24 years ago and it was when talking to our children that they suggested we do a renovation on our house. We have a good sized south-facing lot with an in - ground pool on a quiet cull-de-sac, and despite a few small renovations over the years, we realized we were due for some changes. But, where to start? It was a good friend of ours who suggested Sarah Gallop, a local, award-winning designer. We didn’t even look any further, as we heard back from Rob Gallop immediately after our first tentative contact.
Our initial ideas were expanded upon into a much larger scope, making our project a full house renovation after discovering our radiant floor heating on both floors was done with Poly B piping and we would inevitably spring a leak at any time. Also, our last-forever tile roof was losing integrity and needed to be replaced as well. Not only did Sarah’s team take all our added issues into account, they were melded beautifully into the design. We went with a metal roof that added a whole new great look to the outside of our house, along with beautiful natural rock work both inside and out.
Sarah chose the contractor for us and worked closely with them as well as us to bring all our wishes into fruition. This was especially helpful, as we were traveling a great deal during that time, and Sarah was able to handle any issues that arose on our behalf.
We moved several walls, added a covered patio area with speakers, heaters, and lights, beautiful ceiling and wall trims and the walk-in closet of my dreams.
Sarah and her team followed us from the first stage of design and permits, through to completion with excellent attention to detail, including choosing the perfect furniture for our new open concept living room, dining room and kitchen space. And the results are simply stunning!
We have virtually a new home from top to bottom, inside and out and we LOVE it!
We would highly recommend Sarah and her team - in fact, we are about to do another renovation project on our summer home in the Okanagan and we have contracted Sarah Gallop for our second time!”
