I am disappointed with how my experience with Paul Davis turned out. They were one of the only Cape Breton local companies I could find to help remove asbestos. I reached out to them months ago, asking for a quote on how much it might be. Initially, they were quick to respond and let me know the price a quote would be. They sent out an invoice and I paid it promptly. After that point, communication became challenging and I had to continually reach out over the new few weeks to even get someone to come to my house. The visit was short and they said they would have a quote to me in the next 1-2 weeks. I waited. I waited more than that. I tried calling and no one answered or returned my messages. I emailed and got an immediate response. They apologized for taking so long and let me know I would hear back from them ASAP. I waited more. I emailed again with no response. I waited even more. Finally, I asked for a refund for the cost of the quote, as I never actually received one. They responded promptly and issued a refund, apologizing and letting me know that my case had been overlooked as they are very busy and don’t take many residential projects.

I’m grateful that they did issue a refund, which is why it’s not a 1 star review. However, the communication was extremely challenging and I felt at points that they were avoiding me. I would have preferred for someone to let me know in the beginning that they were very busy and didn’t have a lot of space for new residential projects, rather than for me to have waited 2 months to find this out. I’m so disappointed and now I have lost 2 months of my time on this.

We couldn’t be happier with the service offered by Paul Davis. From the first step meeting Laura. She was calm, professional and her response time to come to our home and respond to any of our question surpasses our expectations. The emergency cleaning crew were great and Brandon & Kevin, the painting team were very conscientious of the contents of our home carefully moving things and putting them back so it was one less thing that we had to worry about. 10/10 would recommend!

Had a water leak in our basement. Contacted Paul Davis through insurance. Quick & efficient response to dry out. Workers who came to do finishing work were so very capable & took pride in their work. Fabulous company. Can't say enough positive things about them !!

I want to thank PaulDavis staff for all they did for myself & Joe with the repairs to our home. Everyone that came here was friendly, helpful and very hard working. We are more than satisfied.
Special thanks go to Branden & Kevin for the very hot days they were here doing the repairs and despite the heat, they worked hard and their laughter and the friendly way they treated us made those days stress free for us. They were wonderful and even in that heat they never slowed down and never once did I hear a complaint. They went above and beyond anything we could have asked of them. To Chris & Mike, when your vehicle pulled into our driveway , you will never know how thankful we were to see you both. We knew you were there to finish the job and you certainly did. Your finish work is second to none and we could not had anyone do any better. They were here only a few hours but what a productive few hours that was and we thank you for that.
We felt that Vee Krake was such a blessing to us. She explained what was happened and what teams were coming and why. She found answers for us as well as being encouraging , straight forward and honest. I will always be grateful and thankful for all that Vee did for us , for her phone calls that made me smile. This was an unknown journey for Joe & myself but Vee walked every step of the way with us and for that I am very grateful. Every business that wants to be successful should have someone like Vee as their liaison and dedicated workers such as the ones who came to us from Paul Davis.

We had a flood a while back in our basement and required a total demo. Paul Davis Cape Breton took care of us. Everybody on the team knew exactly what to do. From start to finish they are masters at their craft, Thanks Tim and staff, very much appreciated, you have exceeded our expectations.

Nothing against the workers - every interaction we had with them was courteous and professional, and they deserve every penny of whatever their jobs pay - but this company basically stole 4/5 of our insurance coverage just to take out everything that got damaged in the flood. I can't help but think it's some kind of grift with the insurance company, because there is simply no way that $22 000 worth of work was done on our behalf. It's absolutely outrageous that we're now left with only $3000 to restore a finished basement ourselves. Sure, we can apply to the province for more money, which we would've initiated already had we known exactly how financially ruined we'd be otherwise. In the meantime, my husband and I are effectively homeless in our own home, and we've got to do all the work ourselves.
I'm jaw-dropped and in a state of panic after having been reassured at every stage that it would all be taken care of.
Update: currently 3 calls deep to get back a computer they took for 'testing' that we were assured would be returned to us. No calls returned, no computer. Getting very close to looking at some next steps, or at the very least bumping this review down a star or two.
Update 2: We are now six months on. We have the computer back, but no other progress has been achieved. Even our insurance company cannot get Paul Davis to return their calls. Down to one star, but it would be zero if they let me.
Update 3: It took 10 months, but we finally got a resolution. According to our insurance company, Paul Davis didn't mean to charge $22 000 - that was only an initial invoice that was never meant to be final, even though they did send it to us again after we asked for a revised version. Anyway, the final invoice was just over $9000, which for the mathletes reading this is a mere 40% of the original invoice. We finally have the money to complete repairs, and plan to avoid this company at all cost in future since they were happy to charge us more than double what the 'actual' invoice showed, then waste a bunch of time fighting us over it. What a circus!
