They were a nightmare to work with. I could write a novel on all their mistakes on our reno. They started renovating our bathroom back in early June 2022 and didn’t “finish” it until December 2022. It’s less than 50 sq ft. They told us it would “take about a week to complete” and mislead us, telling us all our materials were in when they weren’t even ordered. One guy broke through our ceiling in our dining room below during demo. Their “fix” is glaringly obvious. They had to repaint our bedroom walls since they scratched them all over, and wouldn’t even cover all the scratches because they ran out of our own paint supply. They didn’t order our tiles until over a week after demo started. It turned out they were on back order and didn’t notify us of this or offer us the opportunity to pick something in stock. The owner even put in writing that everything except our delayed vanity (also their fault because they didn’t order it until mid June even though we approved the order in March) would be completed by August 26 which is still incredibly late. Surprise! It wasn’t. And then he went on vacation. Our project coordinator didn’t coordinate anything with us. It was always us emailing, calling, and texting asking for concrete answers. Most of the time the reply was “I’ll keep you posted.” We’d hear nothing. They ruined our entire summer (vacation cancelled three times to accommodate them) and expected us to be on call the entire time. People showed up without warning. On many occasions, they said “I’ll be back tomorrow”, and then we never saw them again. It’s pretty sad that MTS’s own tradespeople commented on how crazy it was that our bathroom was taking so long. In September, when we finally got to test the shower, we discovered that their tiler did such a poor job that the water was pooling in the centre and the entire shower floor was leaking into our dining room ceiling. It needed to be completely redone, and a subcontractor was hired to do it properly. It took forever due to the poor planning and miscommunication of our “supervisor”. To this day we have ugly brown stains on the ceiling from that leak.
They are incapable of properly installing trim and bathroom accessories, leaving large sharp nails sticking out. They installed our mirror hooks unevenly and blamed it on a “damaged” mirror. We waited months for a replacement based on this lie, only to find it lopsided upon reinstalling. Our tiles were unevenly spaced and laid down. They installed MDF trim directly beside our open shower. It immediately warped. When we finally got them to install properly treated wood, they painted all the baseboards in the wrong colour (you could clearly see their brush strokes, they didn’t even bother to reinstall properly treated wood on all the remaining walls like we asked). They do not document anything regarding paint and materials used. If anything needs fixed, they just guess and hope for the best. They don’t properly clean your tiles for you after installing and try to convince you it’s your job as the paying customer. After begging to have the haze and excess grout removed, they sent their delivery driver to use use his car keys to scrape our tiles. I wish I was joking. They also thought it was acceptable to not install the fan cover or window treatment. They also cut a chunk out of our door without asking to try and make it close better?! It doesn’t.
They even had the nerve to ask us for the final payment instalment (after months of no visits/contact despite our request) without responding to any of our previous emails outlining the issues with our bathroom or even installing the final accessory (which was in their possession). They are beyond disorganized. We had to get a lawyer involved and get someone else to fix their awful work.
We are so angry with this unprofessional, unqualified, and beyond incompetent company, and would not recommend them to anyone.
