The crew showed up bright and early everyday and are professional, diligent and efficient. Communication with Simon and Ethan is consistently prompt, honest, on point, and with care to customer happiness. I’ve used HCH for an exterior project recently and was totally satisfied with the quality of the work performed. I have two large decks, one is 8 X 16 and the other is 10 X 16. I was looking at having pergolas installed as well as a privacy screen and bar/entertainment area. I had a plan of what I wanted and submitted it to HCH. Not only could they do what I wanted but suggested a couple of changes that would make more private and functional. That’s what I call ‘attention to details’
The work was performed on time and on budget (even with the changes). This is important to me because I am retired and on a fixed income
I have other projects that I need to have done in and around the house and I will be in touch with HCH.

We were originally referred to Simon and HCH by a friend who used them for work in their home. It's hard trusting someone you've never worked with before, but we were very happy with the results! They completely remodelled our old, outdated fireplace, and they were reasonably priced, very professional, and generally just a pleasure to work with. We've since gone on to use them for several other projects around our house, the most recent of which was the installation of a shiplap feature wall and quarter round in our master bedroom. Whenever we've had any home-related issues or emergencies (e.g., small basement flood, leaks, mould) we've contacted HCH and they've come right away to assess the damage and identify the cause. When it's outside the scope of their expertise, they're honest about it and put us in touch with other professionals they trusted who were able to do the job for us. I think that, in itself, is what makes HCH so great. You can trust the advice they give and the quality of work they provide.

I truly hope that the company has improved in the last few years. I'm still dealing with issues from the poor work done in making our container building. The one main requirement that I made very clear at the outset was that the space should be rodent proof. Because is is a metal container building, they didn't take this seriously. They left easy access to the wall and ceiling space through the bay door area. Rodents have chewed the wiring and insulation.
The only other emphasized requirement was to make the space easy to clean and disinfect. They felt using metal siding for the walls would satisfy this, but they used pourous baseboards and trim that is not easy to clean. There are lots of nooks and crannies making it challenging to maintain a hygenic space.
Their accounting system was unreliable. They sent us a final bill, with no breakdown of what it covered and no explanation for the amount.
Whenever we raised these issues, they were defensive and made excuses instead of taking the feedback as professionals.
I love our building but tried to prevent these issues from happening and wasn't heard.

Simon showed up, he listened and he delivered a jazz-club style room, in grand style, exceeding our already high expectations. Some pictures included here to show the quality of the workmanship. On-time, on-budget with excellent communications along the way, to make this complex project a reality.

Stay Away

We contracted Humble Creek Homes to renovate our bathroom in July 2020 and we were eager to support a small local contractor. Humble Creek Homes represented itself as professional, qualified and eager and their pricing was reasonable.

Our project has turned out to be a disaster and we are left cleaning up their mess. In our opinion, the workmanship was substandard and paid little attention to fit and finish. We had a deficiency list 27 items long, some of which Humble Creek Homes did agree to remedy, however, some of the more egregious ones they stated would only be remedied at our cost.

Their tile work was beyond bad, with excessive lippage throughout, tiles not lining up and grout in multiple colours likely caused by thin set seeping through. They blamed the poor tile work on defective tiles and accused us of buying poor quality materials which were purchased from a well-known big box store based on their advice.

If the tiles were truly defective or of poor quality, you would expect that an experienced contractor would have quickly identified the issue and stopped to remedy rather than completing the job and essentially saying ‘tough luck you deal with it’. Its our opinion that the tiles were just fine and Humble Creek Homes used ‘defective materials’ as a convenient excuse to cover up their poor workmanship and avoid the cost of remedying.

As well, the metal trim finish on our custom shower bench and general trim work was amateur, the hot water didn’t work (wouldn’t you expect a contractor might take the time to check that before delivering a ‘completed’ project) and to top it off they mixed the thin set / tile grout on our interlock front step and left them stained … classy.

We attempted to reasonably address our deficiencies, some of which would likely require them to start from scratch. Humble Creek Homes courteous nature quickly disappeared, made us feel like the ‘bad guy’ and told us half truths rather than accepting responsibility for their substandard work, lack of supervision and refused to make things right or remedy the deficient work performed to an acceptable standard.

We understand Humble Creek Homes is trying to grow in an industry where word of mouth and reputation is king. They clearly are not focused on customer service, let alone delivering a quality product.

We want others to be aware of our situation before they spend their hard-earned money with Humble Creek Homes. We are now engaged with another contractor to do the job right. Our advice is to do your research on Humble Creek Homes and find a more reputable contractor to work with. We are so disappointed that we trusted Humble Creek Homes with our home.

HCH just completed a new cover for our oil tank and then finished the skirting on the back side of our house. They were done in one day and did a great job. I hope to use them again soon. Thank you HCH, it was truly appreciated.
