Dear owners and management of Westwood Square Mall.
I’m writing to complain about the management and their lack of care and commitment to keeping their property clean and free of illegal/annoying/demoralizing signage and litter.
I will say that I don’t think it’s your entire management team who isn’t trying and I’d also like to state that there are several people who work in that mall of whom I am fond and enjoying visiting them when I shop inside the mall. It’s mostly a positive experience there however, some of my friends and I don’t appreciate being handed business cards or cards advertising fortune telling while we are inside or outside of the mall.
I must say that I resent the state of your mall and parking lot and sidewalks and light posts that you presented to us in which to do our Christmas shopping in December 2023. Shopping at Westwood Square Mall is demoralizing!
Outside, there is illegal, unsightly signage that has been on Frescho’s wall since early summer 2023 and other illegal signage that has been one lamp poles since before November, 2022.
There is too much litter left after your cleaner is finished each night. Does he even clean at the old Walmart building?
Excrement on the wall outside of Dollarama, has currently been left for weeks!
I appreciate the fact that you decorate inside the mall for Christmas however, when someone vandalizes your decorations, I think it would be nice if you either repaired them or removed them from sight.
Your poor skinny Santa Claus was so awfully displayed for the last two years!
Those artificial plants inside the mall were nice when they were new however, now that they have been vandalized and are partially bald, please will you have a little class and either repair them or replace them? There are several of them. It’s almost laughable but it’s not really funny. It’s ugly.
I’ve asked you several times to please be leaders in our neighbourhood and not tolerate bad behaviour and yet you continue to be complacent about it all.
We neighbours know that you don’t care about us nor respect us and that Westwood mall is just an extra cash grab for the Fieldgate company and that is why you think you don’t need to show us respect or have pride in your mall. We know that you know that we need what you are selling; so, your management team puts in the least effort possible.
And you allow bird feeding in the parking lot!
I’ve asked and suggested time and time again, for years now, that you clean up the litter and add more garbage bins! And I’ve been polite about it!
Your mall is generating that trash with the products you sell and your lazy customers need somewhere convenient to put it. We need you to set the example and not tolerate the mess.
Several neighbours here in Malton have been discussing our discontent of the way you keep Westwood Mall and mismanage it and we have reported it to the city.
My husband and I shop there only when we need something and we’ve started to go in the evening so that we can’t see most of the mess.
We avoid Friday nights because they allow groups to preach loudly, play music loudly and hand out pamphlets to people who are too shy to say, ‘no’ and then the recipients drop the papers on the ground. Visit the mall on a Saturday, and you will see flyers on the ground and in the Westwood bus terminal.
The people who pass out these flyers do not care if they leave litter! They’ve told me twice! They just say, “Look around at all the litter! No one cares!”.
