This is a very strange funeral home. Looks nice on the outside, people seem pleasant inside however, there is a strongly dark underbelly here.
This is the only funeral home that I have heard of that takes marching orders from a Care Giver or a distant relative about who can attend and who must be blocked from a funeral or information about a loved one.
Jan 2020 my wife and I were told we were not welcome because another person forbid it for our entire family. We were told Police would be called.
June 2025, we went to pick up my wife's mother's ashes. We were denied all paperwork because my mother-in-laws self declared caregiver forbid the home to speak to us, show docs and provide a death certificate.
The man who runs the place quite literally ran out of the room when he realized who we were. He denied all future communication, left us with a cold women who followed the marching orders.......
More to follow when we file court papers.
I have never in my life have heard of funerals by invite only and closed to prevent family members from attending. Further to that, my wife's mother paid for her own arrangements, promised my wife and I that the self proclaimed caregiver old not block access.....the funeral home follows orders from people who didn't pay for services, she just brings a lot of business....money talks I suppose.
The law can figure that out, I'm sure they will as court papers fly.
We won't ever use the services here, run far away from here, not to be trusted, that has been proven.
Harsh, but extremely real. My opinion is based on my 1st hand experience and that of my wife's also.

The respect and caring of my mother . It was so beautiful they made her beautiful. Service of the food was unbelievable Delicious . Our family will never forget how kind and caring they were. Thank you from all of us for a wonderful day . even though it was sad, you made it so peaceful. I would recommend this funeral home to anyone outside of Orangeville all around . Thank you again🥰🩷🩵❤️

Wish I could give 10* out of 5!
Terry was very accommodating & patient helping my kids & I through a very difficult time. The funeral & reception were all looked after by Terry & his team, so we didn’t have to worry. The memorial tribute, slide show & service were beautiful. The food far exceeded my expectations!
Everyone at Dodds & McNair are so accommodating & wonderful at bringing comfort at a very distressing time!
Thank you for your exceptional compassion & service! You are a credit to not only the industry, but the whole community!

Pleasant experience last year. However, when asked about my deceased mother's gold teeth, we were told, after the fact, that they were given to charity, allegedly. To whom? Don't know. It would've been considerate to have informed us first on what to do with the teeth...

Thank you to the family of Dod's & McNair Funeral home. You made the planning of my mother's funeral seemless and even took care of things we didn't think you would. Everyone loved your ceremony, internment and reception. Your building is beautiful as well as the chapel. Food and beverages were amazing. Everyone was great there, especially Terry. Please plan your funerals here. You will not be disappointed!

Incredibly professional, respectful and made a very hard thing as easy as it could be. The entire team from Terry to the people cleaning up afterwards were so kind and respectful. We were never rushed or pressured.

We lost a loved one suddenly and were quite in shock when planning the funeral. Terry was very patient, compassionate and efficient with everything. We were able to customize our own celebration of life so that it was specific to our family and friends. The minister was well spoken, respectful and kind. For such a tragic time I have to say we are very happy we chose Dods and McNair to help us through the entire process.

We have lost a few family members over the years and have used Dods and McNair for their services each time. Terry and his staff are true professionals, dealing with everything that has to happen without any worries. They are kind and respectful and know the business inside out.
