I usually wouldn’t post a bad review of a business, but hiring bold was a disaster. Their professionalism is the worst that I’ve ever encountered as a contractor or as a home owner.

I hired Bold to come in and check if my walls were load bearing. From the beginning I told them the City of Ajax requires a signed letter from a structural engineer as well a sketch layout of the house. They had no issue and sent me a contract for a good deal so I hired them. The day the structural engineer showed up he left after about 15 minutes so I called him to confirm that the sketch had been made. He started telling me that he doesn’t have to do a sketch, if a sketch was required they would have brought in another person and the job would be much more money for me. I was very confused as the contract I signed clearly stated a sketch, so I asked him if he even looked at the proposal which he said no. He started losing his mind at me saying if he knew this he would have cancelled the job, that they are so busy he doesn’t need this work. Once he got back to the house he was extremely rude to my wife, making her very uncomfortable while he raised his voice at her while he was the only person in the house with her. On top of all that he told her that he doesn’t know how to do a sketch, which now has me wondering if they even know what they’re doing.

The next day someone from their office reached out to apologize, which I appreciate but the damage was done at this point. They informed me that someone in their office screwed up the pricing and gave me their price that shouldn’t have included the sketch. Regardless if that is the case or not the fact that their engineer took this out on in clients is baffling. They were only 50$ less than other structural engineers which did include a sketch so I’m not really sure if that was even the case or if they’re just doing damage control.

Do yourself a favour and hire ANYBODY else. This company is a bush league operation and I wouldn’t trust them for anything. Complete and total disaster.
