A 25 000$ project that turned out to be a 40 000$ + project. And this money went down the drain because of the horrible quality. Now we are stuck with hiring another company to redo what they have done.

We decided to hire Blackforest contractor because they were very professional at first appearance and seemed to care truly about quality of there service offered and seemed to know what they were doing. We were redoing our 1 acre property to cover certain parts with clean fill and top soil. We were looking towards an end product with nice top soil because we had hired as well hydro seeding to come after. We also mentioned concerns of our property where there were pooling of water and we wanted it to be fixed. During the project, we had to double our quantity of loads of clean fill and making the budget increase in double because they hadn’t calculated correctly. It seems very odd that working in that line of work there is such a big gap in miss calculation. We had specifically mentioned what we wanted. The quality of clean fill that they were bringing was full of boulders and rocks. When questioned about it , we were told that it was the only clean fill available in short notice and that if we wanted something else it would be more expensive. We received that information afterwards we agreed receiving more top soil. Leaving us without any other choices if we wanted the project to finish. When it came time to add the top soil, they barely put an inche of top soil so at the first rain all the top soil was gone. We could see all the rocks and only the poor quality of clean fill. Our yard was a land mine of rocks! There were no way we would be able to pass the lawn mower on it because it would damage it. In addition, they did not fixed the water drainage issues, instead they created a big one as the water is pooling all in the back. We had to complain and ask three times to come and see for themselves. The responses we got were excuses and not professional in our opinion; as example they sent us photos of other projects that they were on. The project manager finally came to visit, seemed professional again and said he would pass this with the owner and try to find a solution cost effective for them. Well they send three guys to pick up the rocks. Out of the three guys, two were busy sitting on the ground chitchatting and only one was working. My spouse even went outside to help out because only one was working hard. Once the boulders and rocks removed, they left big craters/holes in our yard. And fixing those holes were never something the company would have even proposed. Bare minimum is there moto. They send us the bill after. We asked for a small load of top soil at their expense because of all of the issues left and they sent us a very small load of poor quality soil… again! This company doesn’t care about the clients and take advantage of them. They never offered any compensation of any sort.

PLUS… There were soo many rocks on the surface that our hydro seeding did not work. So very frustrating.

What a waste of money! Not recommending this company!

We have used Blackforest Contractor since the early 1990's at two residences. Always excellent work with attention to detail and never any issues when it came to doing adjustments mid job. They did front yard landscape job at our old house and a front yard landscape job including cut stone driveway at our current house which looks great. They have also done landscaping in our backyard, most recently cut stone around our pool deck and patio and some rework on our deck. Excellent job cutting and covering the old cement deck around the pool with new stone, again, looks great. They also do interior work which for us has included painting, drywall repairs and a makeover on a powder room. Highly recommend this company.

We have used Blackforest Contractor since the mid 1990's at three residences. Their attention to detail sets them apart and their work is of excellent quality.
They recently did our porch and walkway (interlock stone). As usual, it looks great!

Blackforest Contractor is the most professional contractor I have encountered over many years of having work done at my house. The workers arrive on time ready to work with the required supplies, are respectful of your property, do very precise & professional work, keep you informed of the work being done, and if needed make recommendations. I have had 2 projects done, in December and February with 100% satisfaction, and have hired them again to do a big landscaping job in the spring 2024. I highly recommend this company - you will not be disappointed.

They have done work for us on three separate occasions over almost 20 years involving: front yard design and implementation for garden and interlock; rear and side fencing plus side interlock; design and implementation of new rear deck which also involved replacement of old retaining wall plus revised fencing. Kyle was friendly and knowledgeable and had an estimate and plans drawn up for us in a timely fashion; the crew and the work were professional and neat, and they took great care with attention to detail; they even rectified an eyesore that was there when we purchased our home and managed to blend in the walkway perfectly with the driveway. The other important factor was the clean up when the project was complete. We highly recommend this company.
