The salesman was a very nice guy, but didn’t seem to understand what he was talking about. Also very unprofessional. It should not take over an hour to quote 1 window.
Edit - reply to response :
Let me provide the full context here seeing as I tried to reach out to schedule a time to talk on the phone in regards to this, which was ignored as well.
We contacted AM exteriors to quote replacing a wooden framed oversized window in our bathroom, to a smaller European style window installed within the same hole, With the empty space remaining to be filled in.
To say the least :
My initial walk around with AM exteriors was probably my weirdest most bazaar encounter with a sales person ever. Stories of women, past jobs, previous encounters, personal life stories etc. it was non-stop talking about anything, except our window.. and then when we talked about the window he wanted me to tell him exactly what we wanted. (How it needed to look in the end, what we’re filling the hole in on the outside with etc.) The whole reason I contacted AM was to provide me with options, so I understand what I can do. When he left, my girlfriend and I looked at each other and both said “what the hell was that”, because the whole meeting felt like a total waste of time.
Whats the point to come out, at 6pm at night (1hr after schedule), with no follow up email with options, or further discussion on the topic till September or October ? I’m not a window installer, so am I supposed to research myself and get back to you? Weird way of doing business. We were hoping to get some reassurance from AM once they saw the project, that they could do the job and make it look great… but unfortunately we did not feel this way.
Solution was to Just defer to 6 months later because we said we weren’t in any rush.. well. That was completely misinterpreted. The first reaction from him was “wow… you’re really throwing a curve ball at me at the end of the day”.
Further Comments like :
“Oh at our team meeting we are going to ponder this one cause wow I have no idea what to do” , “wow this is a good one”
Or
“You guys need to figure out what you want this to look like”
Or
“Right now I’m a batter coming to the plate but you’re not throwing a pitch at me to hit”
Etc etc are just examples of how the sales person way overstepped boundaries at late hours of the day and the sales person didn’t really help us. I have had 3 window companies come into my home with options, quotes, pictures all sent to me with viable options/solutions. None of which came from AM, and none of those companies were unsure of what to do. They were quick and responsive. And also didn’t stay at my house for an hour and a half.
As we are not window professionals, we should have been told what our options were… maybe sent some pictures, given some ideas by our sales person, etc. it felt like he pushed for “reconvening” in September / October, more than anything. Again … if I’m not conveyed my options, I will be in the same spot in September, only 6 months later.
Lastly - when we the sales person was trying to book us an appointment in September or October, I said choose any day and make the time 5pm. Instead of listening to me, he said he wants me to come home from work, have time to walk the dog, and be mind focused on the meeting. He said why don’t we book it for 6:30pm.
For me that was when I knew 100% this was a waste of time.
Im the customer. I told you to book for 5pm. Why is that not good enough for you? How do you know I won’t be focused at 5pm? And why would we call you out to receive no options untill our next meeting in 6 months ? Lol. We don’t feel heard in the slightest.
What a huge run around.
Hope this provides further clarity, I am no longer interested in working with AM. You’re still welcome to reach out to me Dan, if you want to discuss further.
