So tonight, doing as the elders do I decided to go to the Dollarama at 3082 Blanshard Street for some garden supplies. Old woman, just minding her business until I witnessed this security guard confiscate body wash and licorice from a woman who appeared to be unhoused, still looking better than me on most days.
He made her leave the store, I got annoyed and told him I would pay for the items and to let her back in. GUESS WHAT, they wouldn't register because she PURCHASED THE ITEMS FROM ANOTHER STORE.
So this man, used his authority and uniform to STEAL a young woman's belongings and humiliate her infront of the entire store. When I asked to see his security license ID, cause I did BST 1 back in the day and I know he's legally obligated to provide it, he flashed it and called his supervisor pretending not to speak English.
The supervisor at ARMOUR SECURITY refused to help, told me to call the police and said his employee did nothing wrong.
I've seen this time and time again over the past 5 years and I always say that I am going to do something and I get so tired of fighting and I don't.
I will be seeing this through to the end, speaking to the police, my advocacy peers and contacts on the media.
I hope you can take a minute to share this post so that we can start holding those in power accountable for their actions. We are British Columbians. We dont profile humans, we dont use authority to steal from and belittle the disadvantaged and when a person makes a valid complaint to a company about abuses of power and lack of professionalism we dont refuse to provide the information that company is LEGALLY obligated to provide given the inequality in the balance of power. Were not supposed to anyway.

EDIT - Representative of Armour Security called to make things right. Then threatened that the owner would sue me for posting on social media for a witnessed crime, not unlike what we do with Crime Stoppers and also just ended up defending the the employee because "there is alot of shoplifting at Dollarama."

****Licensed security guards in British Columbia are required to provide their name if asked by a member of the public or a peace officer, and their identification tag or licence should display their name or licence number, or both.*** both tje supervisor, employee and store staff refused to provide.

The security guard at the Dollarama on Seymour Street needs to go through training again.

I said something to him about the front gate being blocked, and he then followed me through the store. I called him out on it, and instead of going back to his initial post by the front gate, he went to the cash register area.

Thanks, Armour security, for hiring and placing poorly trained and disrespectful security guards in high-traffic stores. You're helping me save money by not going to these stores anymore.

If you want to infuriate customers, keep hiring rude security guards!

The guards at Aberdeen Mall are so friendly and kind. I lost my wallet and the guard working helped me find it. I don’t remember his name but I appreciate it so much. Very impressed by their services!

The people driving the car needs their driver license taken away. The license plate NG0 82J ran past a stop sign and stopped in the middle of the intersection because someone honked at them for running a stop sign. He opened his car door looking for a fight with a teenage girl. This company is a joke for hiring egotistical people

I attended the Ministry of Social Development in Chilliwack to assist a client, and was disappointed to see the security guard was so disrespectful to not only myself and my client but to other individuals seeking assistance. Perhaps the most vulnerable people in BC attend this government building and to have security guards not being respectful, kind, or compassionate let alone trauma informed is unfortunate to say the least.
