Yesterday I visited the rented place; I was ready to give my first and last for the credit check too, and an employee told me that the owner will take a decision on Monday. I agreed with his words, and then today I got mail from Bricks Property about “the unit which I visited being rented.” Seriously, if you didn’t want to give it to me, then tell me “No” at that time. Don’t play this dirty game.

These property owners are an absolute joke. They refuse to do their job in any and all capacities. You have a horrible neighbour? Tell Brick so they can tell ypu all their made-up reasons for why they refuse to do anything about it. Want to point out that it's literally their job by definition to do so? Too bad, they refuse to do their job.
Absolute clowns who don't see their tennants as actual human beings. They truly don't care about people at all.

Asking VERY VERY illegal questions on their applications for rentals…. This is common knowledge for even home owners - can’t see how they missed that in their classes. Maybe after all the bad reviews I see and complaints they would learn the lesson ….

Used Brick for two years they were great with our tenants and had no issues during that time. Where the problem began was when we had to get new tenants. The listing they created and charged us monthly for looks like a child created it ... old photos, incorrect information and overall not appealing at all. I took matters into my own hands after and was able to rent the unit out within 4 days.

Rented off Brick Properties for 1 year and four months at two separate properties. At the first unit Brick was a great hands off management company when things were running smoothly. 4 months into my second rental agreement at a separate property I had to break my lease due to harassment from other tenants in the building. Despite having a police report and being jumped by the neighbours in front of my one year old son Brick did nothing to ensure my safety. We mutually agreed to end tenancy due to constant harassment and property damage from the same neighbours they neglected to address. I was more than happy to help Brick advertise the property and obtain a new tenant. They were slow to post and show the unit and requested I show the unit when they were unavailable. The only bright spot in this entire company was Catrina who was the only one providing me regular updates on potential renters. After finding a tenant they gave me 4 days notice the unit was rented and tried to rush me out. Then tried to hold my last month’s rent and charge me ridiculous fees. The office held the money an entire week before I contacted the Landlord Tenant Board. I received my payment (in full) the same day I threatened action through the LTB, ironic. Please familiarize yourself with RHEU and LTB to know your rights when renting with Brick as they will try to bully and scam you out of any money they can.

Management ran an open house on a unit my family an I were hoping to rent. They brought three couples simultaneously to two units. Requested credit check through single key which was an unnecessary expensense for us and our cosigner (money grab) because the banks provide a credit score free of charge. They didnt even have the courtesy to inform us we were denied. I guess were supposed to just take the hint.
If I could rate less than one star I would

If I could give Brick Properties 0 stars I would. I had ongoing issues in our unit for over 8 months that were continuously left unresolved and caused me to have severe health complications. Despite this, Brick gave us a hard time when we gave notice that we would be moving and I had to get the Landlord and Tenant Board involved. Once moved, I had to ask on several occasions over a month later for my key deposit back. I also received a threatening email over 2 months after moving out that I had to pay an outstanding hydro bill before it was sent to collections (which was in the owner's name as I removed my name from the hydro effective the day after our tenancy ended).
They pride themselves on having a 24/7 online forum, but all it really does is make it easier for them to ignore your complaints and remove any ability of your own to call or contact them directly.
Seems that all properties managed by Brick Properties are a revolving door and they're desperate (as I was told by the rental agent) to fill units, so they accept just about anyone, despite them making bad neighbours for those already living in the units. Avoid at all costs!!

**AVOID Brick if you can - Please read below**
Overall, Catrina is the only bright spot at this company, she was very helpful in acquiring the unit and was always very friendly. Brick is also very hands off when things are going well which is nice, was easy to go months without having to communicate with them, but are also hands off when MAJOR problems happen.
I rented a basement unit from Brick in April 2022, last minute they told me the unit was not ready due to new egress window and sprinkler/furnace system (luckily the upstairs unit was vacant) and was able to be lived in for 2 months. Hassle to move everything multiple times, but I remained optimistic/patient.
June 2022 comes around and the unit is still not done, and the new tenants are moving into the upstairs so the entire house cannot be lived in. Luckily, I had family close by to stay with, but I'm sure not everyone is that fortunate. Didn't move back in until mid-June and had to reach out and ask by myself for rent discount, etc. Come back mid-June to find out that the company Brick had hired to do the jobs had started a fire in the basement resulting in scorched walls, melted blinds, etc. Accidents happen, but I'm sure they were looking to save $ and hire a company that isn't exactly the best. (Those blinds did not get replaced for my whole 2 year tenancy)
Fast forward to September 2022, turns out the company hired to do these jobs did an awful job and some water pipes were not correctly sealed, resulting in major flooding. We notified Brick IMMEDIATELY about flooding in our basement unit. Multiple requests to fix flooding went unnoticed for SIX MONTHS. The flooding got so bad that when Brick finally got around to it, they
had to replace our floors and wall trim because of mould (major inconvenience as I work from home) This could've been avoidable if actioned right away. Brick does not let you communicate by phone/email, you have to use their online rental portal website which makes it very easy for them to shrug off service requests, etc.
I have now moved out as of March 1 and am going on day 7 without getting my key deposit back so far.
