Spring Project 2024

This year we decided that improvements and a makeover was necessary to the front porch and walkway. As we looked for a contractor to do this kind of work, we found a few companies but selected Lucier Contracting for a number of reasons. We contacted Rob Lucier by email and requested a quote. Rob called back in short order and set up an appointment to talk about a design that would be appropriate for the style of our house. Rob arrived to view our project. He checked out the existing porch and sidewalk then suggested a design that would really improve the appearance of the building.

A start date was set and when Rob arrived with his crew, he once again went over the plan for the changes with us before he started construction and we agreed with his vision. The project was to remove the prefab small porch and all the existing concrete walkway, load it on his dump trailer and dispose of it.
With his excavator, the team roughed out the new shape of the path adding some nice curves leading up to the new front door. The prefab one piece porch was small and had no character, unattractive and had outlived its usefulness.

Once the shape was finalized and complete, the team dug out the area and removed the sand and top soil deep enough to fill the area with gravel. They spent a lot of time packing the gravel such that the new concrete would not sink or sag. When all of this was complete, they brought in reinforcing rod that would be placed in the centre of the slab to make the sidewalk stronger and prevent cracking in the future.

On the day they poured the concrete, a truck arrived with material that was organized to a specification and strength suitable for a porch and sidewalk.
The crew spent a lot of time and effort spreading and finishing the surface to perfection. Once all the concrete was completely filled in the forms, a brushed finish was applied to give the surface a non slip finish.

In the pictures, the first two are views of the original small prefab porch and the straight walkway that was built in 1980. These pieces were tired looking and needed replacement.
The following pictures are a work in progress not in order of sequence.

When we first met Rob, he was extremely honest and upfront about all the cost and expenses related to our project. He discovered a problem during the excavation of the original concrete. The in-ground pipe allowing drainage from the roof was plugged and damaged. The pipe in the ground was replaced with large diameter PVC industrial pipe with clean outs that should last forever.

Rob is a very pleasant, talented and creative man that works well with his hard working crew and the homeowner.

Another thing that is important is that he showed up on time and completed the work without delay except for some very heavy rain where no one can work in those conditions. He left the work site clean and tidy each day.

If I could rate this companies work, it would be a lot more than 5 out 5.
I would highly recommend Lucier Contracting as their work is in my opinion, is exceptional quality!

We recently had our front lawn and porch redone by Rob and his crew.
Weather was a challenge but the work was completed quickly and professionally.
Our concrete porch was rotting, and needed to be replaced.
Rob recommended the perfect colours for the stamped concrete that match the brick of our house perfectly.
The garden bed is so beautiful, and we love the bullnose finish he added.
Once all this concrete work was done, it only made sense to redo the front lawn also.
Rob and his crew removed the existing tree and gardens and replaced everything with very lush and healthy sod.
We are so happy with our new front yard and porch, and have received so many compliments.
Can't wait to plant it to show off all this incredible work.
