Mike and his son did a fabulous and professional job of rebuilding our cottage lane. The Riegers designed and created the drainage needed and built the road surface to last. After two summers and one winter it requires almost no maintenance. There have been no puddles in over almost a kilometer. I would recommend Rieger without any hesitation. They are a pleasure to work with.

We’ve worked with Rieger on a number of projects over the years from the installation of several septic systems to the building of roads, sinking steel foundations for a new cottage and a dock as well as landscaping. Mike and his son Alex have been amazing over the years and we are always so happy with the results. Recently we called Mike back to our island to have a look at the septic system he installed 20
years ago to make sure things were still in good working order and we appreciated his feedback, wisdom experience, expertise and advice on the maintenance required to keep going for at least another 10 years.

Rieger did the excavation, site work and helped with getting contractors for our garage at the beginning of the pandemic. Not easy. They even provided landscape ideas that made it all fit with the surrounding forest and hillside (Thanks Mike!) The staff are experienced and efficient. They even let me help - a little : )

New, full septic installation:

*Scheduling: Wasn't told or notified when project would begin, they just called and showed up the day of... also wasn't told when they were "finished".

*Completed job: Job was not "finished" to customer's satisfaction, including the driveway.

*Over charge: Customer was told by Rieger's owner, that heavy equipment would damage the driveway, but that the company would fix it (at customer's expense) with several loads of gravel, which was charged on the first invoice. However... they only fixed half of the driveway, and did a poor job that made it worse (a regular road height car would have bottomed out on the difference between the left side of the driveway and the right side). When the customer brought it to the companies attention, it was then properly fixed with several more loads of gravel, but the customer was charged for the extra gravel to fix the contractor's initial mistake.

*Customer service: Practically impossible to contact the company now that they have done what they have done.

*Installation issues: Parts of the backyard around the septic tank and outwards is now sinking, and flooding with rainwater (some areas like quicksand) and needs to be filled and fixed, in order for the job to be "complete".

*First invoice: $35,000+... paid in full. Secondary invoice for fixing driveway, which was listed on the first invoice. Almost $2000... in limbo until some sort of solution to this whole issue has been found.

*Update: December 3... no official contact, resolution or job "completion".

*Is it normal for a full septic system installation to only take 2 days from breaking ground to "completion"?

In the beginning, the customer was told by Rieger's owner that "I don't do quotes" because "I've been in the business for a long time, and I'll do it, if you want it done right"... customer was given several recommendations that "he is the best in the business", but these came from his friends who work or have worked with him on various jobs.

I think a big issue with this company is that the right hand doesnt talk to the left hand. Communication and organization would have solved quite a few issues.

When I had heard of how good this company was, I had hoped that they would be the one's who could have helped my mother in law with future renovation plans, but that idea has now been flushed into a septic tank.

*I am the son in law, posting on behalf of my mother in law (actual customer, 82 years old).

NOTE:
I even had to lend one of Rieger's workers my personal tools to fix a malfunctioning hydraulic system on their equipment.
