My experience with Seguin Morris in 2023 was disenfranchising. They were one of only two authorized HVAC techs allowed in my building at the time. Called for AC inop. Tech arrived and after looking at the unit for a few minutes the tech suggested a whole new system was needed. They charged a flat rate of ~$428 for this service.
Feeling a 2nd opinion was needed, I spoke to my regular HVAC guy, they came, made some adjustments to the TX valve and got me running again.

Of note; Séguin Morris Inc. does hold a valid QC trade license but as of Jan 27th 2025, the business name printed on the bill: SEGUIN MORRIS INC. is not registered on the federal GST/HST registry nor is there an GST/HST number on the bill.
Not good if I ever get audited.

You make your own judgement call - read other reviews. They are professional and knowledgeable as they are recommended by my Condo Board. However, their baseline/standard rate for a call is $401.15 (before doing any work).

In my case, it was approximately 4 minutes of work - They informed me that the building water pressure was fine, then stated it must be a faucet mechanism that needed to be replaced. $401.15 for advice - Works out to being $100/ minute. I understand the minimum of $250 (2 hours of labour), but the other flat-rate charges are ridiculous in my opinion.

There are other reliable and professional companies out there at a more reasonable price.

I will respectfully agree to disagree with your response. If your operational costs are that high whereby you're charging approximately $401.15 for a base-fee, $105 of which is for travel and tools, then I would reevaluate your business model and costs so that it is not onto the responsibility to the consumer. For example, it would be ridiculous if you purchased one pizza for $100 right? If the owner says that their operational costs are high because they need to maintain the wood oven, have expert pizza makers and that their rent is high, should those costs be transferred to the consumer? [Please note that I am not stating that you're equivalent to a pizza place, as I know that your technical skillsets are extremely valuable and difficult to replace] But you get my point.

I fully concur with Ton Tran's review above. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable (well, most I think) but the minimum cost is absolutely ridiculous. Rude really! The response from Seguin seems more like a polite "don't care" then a showing of any sort of concern. Further, I think it's BS. In my opinion they are charging it because they CAN as they are fully aware of their positive reputation. I know they hold contracts for many of the buildings in Ottawa which is a bonus dor them. Transportation and tools! For 1, I'm pretty sure new tools are not purchased for every visit. What a fair business who cares for anything more than their profits would do is re-evaluate what a minimum call out consists of.

As of now I am giving this a one star review as they have charged me $430 for doing nothing. I had an HVAC problem in my condo and was recommended by the property manager to contact Seguin Morris as one of my options. At first they sounded super professional, friendly and helpful over the phone and the dispatcher guaranteed me that they will have my HVAC unit fixed. The technician arrived and checked out the HVAC unit but was more clueless about what was wrong with the unit. He first diagnosed that it may have been a faulty compressor and left after 20 minutes. He then called me back after 5 minutes to do another check up due to a request of his manager or co-worker. He kept calling his manager or co-worker throughout the whole process of his evaluation and somehow managed to figured out that it was something else that was faulty which was weird in my opinion. The reasoning to why it was weird was because instead of the original compressor being faulty it was the motherboard which was more expensive to replace than the compressor. I have no problem paying to get the motherboard replaced as the HVAC unit is crucial during these past days due to the unit reaching upwards of 40 degrees Celsius without the AC working properly.

The technicians told me to not worry and he will get in contact with his company and inform them of the situation and will quote me on the part that needed to be replaced. He told me that they will give me the quote for the replacement in the next couple hours and at most until the next day. The next day came and no emails or calls regarding the issues and out of my concerns I called them multiple times during their opening hours to see if they will send me a quote and a technician to fix the problem. However, no luck whatsoever and they kept putting my call to voicemail no matter how many times I called. I tried calling the technician that was working on the HVAC unit multiple times and was met with the same fate. Desperate to get an answer, I tried calling today which is a weekend to see if I can somehow get in touch with a manager so they can assist me and my problem. But, I was met with an extremely rude and unprofessional employee over the phone which ultimately lead me to leave this review.

I will leave this review here until someone from Seguin Morris either return my call and have someone come to fix the HVAC unit as promised.

You are warned: the company charged me $420 just for an initial visit + diagnostics of a furnace problem. The guy was there for 10 minutes, said I need a new part and that they would provide a quote within a week! I called, I waited, no quote, no response! a week later I called another 5 star company - they only charged $160 for initial visit, and showed up the same day. This company is a fraud, and I will be submitting a complaint to the BBB.
