We discovered Home Renovation Hamilton through my cousin, who recommended them for our home renovation. They worked on our bathrooms, installed new flooring throughout the main floor, fully renovated the kitchen with quartz countertops and a matching quartz backsplash, added new pot lights, and painted the entire house. Don't bother. We hired this company to install an exhaust into our bathroom on the ceiling which is tiled in a section over the bathtub. The job we discussed and got a quote for included having the exhaust installed and the tiles replaced. It also included a few other fixes around the house and the installation of an egress window in the basement.

After taking a 45% deposit from us, he postponed the start date for the job 3 times. Each time, cancelling on us last minute. When he finally sent someone in to start the work, the guy came in and left a hole in our bathroom ceiling and roof for a week in -15°C weather because he also cancelled on us multiple times in a row due to 'too much traffic'.

When he finally sent someone who would show up, the work got done but some not completed with much quality. One of the tasks was to fill in a hole made for a cat flap in a door. Filled in but not finished or sanded or level. The exhaust was installed and drywalled over, so was the hole made for the electrical but neither were retiling or finished at all. Just drywalled.

Initially, after we had paid our deposit, we had discussed not re-tiling the bathroom ceiling and also not letting them start on the egress window because of how unreliable they already seemed. But after telling us that they were done, he was going to charge us for things that were not completed. All that was deducted was $900 for the egress which he had originally quoted us $1200. He has yet to deduct anything for leaving our bathroom unfinished.

I will most likely be submitting a consumer complaint since they aren't even giving an explanation as to why they are asking us to pay full price for an incomplete job.

TLDR; I do not recommend hiring this company unless you would like to experience being stood, expected to pay for services you didnt recieve, and then finshing the job yourself or hiring another contractor.
