I recently completed a major renovation with Ottawa General Contractors (OGC), and I couldn't be happier with the results. The project lasted over six months and involved significant structural changes, including removing a load-bearing wall and installing a beam to create a more open layout in the kitchen-living-dining area. They also reconfigured my upstairs floor plan to give me a beautiful master bedroom with an ensuite and a walk-in closet—exactly what I had envisioned.
Throughout the process, my Project Manager Kevin demonstrated exceptional project management skills. He coordinated and sourced highly skilled tradespeople, ensuring every phase of the renovation was completed to a high standard. Communication was clear, and he did a great job resolving unexpected issues that arose.
I especially appreciated the flexibility OGC allowed me with scope. They were more than willing to accommodate my change requests and were willing to leave a few areas unfinished so that I could complete them myself—I love having a project around the house! The whole team starting from sales, accounting , selections, to construction were incredible, accommodating.

We recently completed a 6 months renovation with OGC and we couldn't be happier with the results. The work included completely renovating the main floor and basement which included the kitchen, all bathrooms and the creation of a main floor mudroom.

The OGC team was extremely professional and communication was excellent throughout the whole project. When choosing fixtures, Chelsea our designer, was very organized and thoughtful...she helped us narrow down our choices and helped us avoid feeling overwhelmed.. She listened to our wants and needs and helped us stay on track and on task at all times. Paul our project manager kept us updated daily with pictures and notes on the OGC portal. When problems did come up, he was ready with solutions and helped us manage our way through.

The quality of work, professional and knowledgeable team and OGC budgeting process are all reasons why I would recommend them without reservation. They made what could have been a pretty stressful project.. fun! Thank you!!

We recently completed a major 3-story addition to our home with Ottawa General Contractors, and we’ve been very pleased with the results!

From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, their professionalism and attention to detail were evident throughout the process. The team took the time to thoroughly understand our vision for the addition and offered valuable input throughout the design process to ensure that the the end result was both functional and aesthetically pleasing while taking into account our various changes and answering our many questions.

The project itself was complex, involving multiple floors, structural modifications and custom finishes, but Ottawa General Contractors handled it all from start to finish. They managed the timeline well with only minimal delays and presented various solutions to any problems that were encountered. The crew and various subcontractors were hardworking, respectful and always left the worksite clean and organized.

We were continually impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship, in particular the moulding work from Oliver which perfectly matched the original and existing work in the home. The final result exceeded our expectations in every way—beautiful, well-constructed and perfectly aligned with the vision we had for our home. The addition complements the original structure, and we’re thrilled with how it turned out.

What truly stood out was the response to any concerns or issues that were raised or that was encountered. A special shoutout to Abdull who managed the project and who truly appreciated the finer details of what we were hoping to achieve. He’s been great at responding to any concerns that we have since the project has closed which has been very much appreciated. Truly a great guy!

Overall, we highly recommend Ottawa General Contractors for any home renovation or construction project. They kept us updated throughout the entire process, and we always felt confident that our project was in good hands.

OGC took care of my project from inception to finish and were extremely responsive from the start to the very end of the project. During the design phase, I only had vague ideas of what I wanted. Through back and forth they went through multiple iterations with 3d renderings, each one with a very quick turnaround, until we settled on something I absolutely LOVED.

They saved me money by suggesting the addition be on helical piles rather than extending the basement. I was worried about cold floors, and they explained very clearly how they insulate the subfloor and get HVAC to circulate air within the floor cavity to maintain a temperature similar to the rest of the house. Before signing on, I was able to visit the site of another similar project they were finishing up and talk to the owner. I ended up incorporating some ideas from her project into mine.

During the project itself, their team was on top of everything. I had some issues with Hydro Ottawa in relocating and upgrading my service. They took over communication and coordination with them when they started telling me I'd also have to relocate my air conditioning unit. In the end I'm grateful that I didn't have to deal with the dragged out back and forth. My air conditioning unit is still in the same location. 🙂

Once delays caused by hydro were out of the way and it was all in OGC's hands, things moved super smoothly. My project manager coordinated material deliveries and different trades like a rockstar. His response time to my texts and emails were usually in the minutes. He was present almost every day to ensure things were moving well and address details before I could flag them.

I really appreciated that any addition or change to the original scope was always clearly stated via change orders with a set price prior to any of the work being done. There were never any surprise costs after the fact. It never felt like they were gouging me. In fact, I originally went outside of them to build out a deck outside my new addition. After the second party try to sell me on something ridiculously expensive at twice the budget I'd given them, I asked OGC and they proposed (and built) a deck that was exactly what I wanted for about a third of the price.

In the end, the trust we built gave me the confidence to almost double the scope of work as the project progressed (via clearly defined change orders). I have no regrets and will be using them again in the future to close out my carport into a garage.
