We called upon Gordmay Construction to deal with a water penetration issue that had arisen on a single storey addition to the house. The installation of a deck 30 years ago, and the absence of appropriate flashing had led to a gradual and chronic deterioration of the rim joist and kneewall in two main areas, including a significant infestation of carpenter ants.

Drew and Markus were able to assess the situation and come up with a strategy which could be done with a minimum of disruption to the household. Their diligence to address these issues and to uncover the underlying cause revealed additional deterioration in other adjoining areas, which could have gone unresolved if they had only reacted to the damage that was readily apparent.

Despite the effective doubling in scope to these repairs, the work was fast and thorough, and restored these structural elements to a “better than new” condition. The team was great for keeping us apprised of progress and in being cost conscious for us, as the extent of this damage was all but invisible until things got underway.

We cannot overstate the quality of workmanship in carpentry that Markus brought to bear on this, and can highly recommend him for any situation. His unflappable and quiet nature brought an air of tranquility and optimism to a very uncertain situation. Drew and Markus and Jan were a delight to work with, and we highly recommend their services.

We hired Gord May to replace a main structural beam in our home. It is a 1922 Glebe Semi Detached and the old beam was twisted and did not seem safe. We used their engineer to provide the right solution and Gord May was awarded the work. Jan, Paul, and Drew were great to work with.
