From start to finish, our technicians Jeremy, Adam and Erin, did a amazing job with our eavestrough, down spout and soffits. They were polite, professional, on time and answered all our questions. I do not recommend this company for any of your roofing needs. My review is long over due and should have been posted 3 years ago after they completed our roof and we became aware of the problems we were left with.
When we originally called the number of a previous roofer who we had do a few repairs for us and were happy with to come and replace the roof, it turned out that he had moved out of province and sold his business number to this company Synergy Roofing. We assumed that if a reputable business owner had sold his number to Synergy that they to would be reputable and trustworthy. We had them come give us an estimate on replacing the entire roof. We had previously been told we needed to replace the plywood under shingles, so when they came we asked them to include price for the plywood. The salesman at the time told us he wouldn’t know if we needed new plywood until they got up on the roof and got the shingles off. So we trusted that he knew what he was talking about. We also had re done our bathroom just before having the roof put on, and asked the salesman to include putting in an exhaust for the bathroom fan and hooking up. I was told "yes no problem." We had also stated that due to previous venting issues we wanted the stacked chimney vents not the flat square vents. Again told "yes no problem"
So when they came to replace the roof in July, I was told the plywood was fine under the shingles and we did not need to replace it. Again, after questioning this as it was the original plywood on roof of a 50 year old house, we trusted they knew what they were talking about. They were asked several times throughout the entire process about the plywood being replaced and we continued to get the same answer. I was told they would have to come back to install the venting and hook up the fan in bathroom. Brings us to the following fall, we still had water leaking in our bathroom fan, and brand-new ceiling, and no fan hooked up yet. We also noticed water marks/stains on the hallway ceiling as well. I called Synergy and informed them of this. The salesman came to the house and looked at the ceiling in the hall and told me I didn't have enough paint on my roller when I painted as we had just freshly painted. In other words (its just because you don't know how to paint) "its not water damage" he says to me. He also tells me for the first time that our mor- venting is all broken and had to be replaced and we need to upgrade our insulation and we don’t provide this service.
So after this visit not satisfied at all, we decided to get a second opinion.
Called a local reputable roofing company come to look at the roof who went up into our attic, and found a complete disaster. Upon inspection they found mold, moisture, and rotten plywood, along with many venting holes that were not properly sealed and cocked. The nails had moisture dripping from them, and they were able to put a screw driver through the wood. They advised us that not only did we need to replace the plywood and shingles again, but that we needed more and bigger vents in our roof as the smaller vents that they had installed were not sufficient for the size of the roof. He advised us to help with the moisture until we were able to replace the entire roof to install a couple of stacked vents.
Upon his advice we contacted Synergy. The salesman blamed it on insulation and told me there was nothing they could do. I sent the owner an email and the photos that were taken of the attic.
When told what had happened the owner offered to come look at the roof, but was more concerned about how the vents that had been added by another roofer as it would ruin our warranty on our shingles. Owner was not willing to do anything to rectify the problem other than offer to “come look at it”, but made clear was our fault. I also received a message from him after he blamed insulation, stating that whoever the other roofer was, we needed to have come and remove the vents or my warranty was no good.
Nothing was rectified and all blame put on us.
