We selected WFC contracting to complete our entire basement, stairs, living room, hallway, and 3 piece bathroom. At first it appeared to be satisfactory. However, upon completion I noted several issues. These issues are in chronological order.
They completed a renovation and left the garbage for me to remove.
The air exchange vent in the bathroom was completely dry walled in. I called the owner, Walter. He came by, tried to measure it by eyeing it out. Used a tool to punch a hole in the drywall, misjudged but eventually located the vent. He told me someone would be by to fix the damage and hole he created, no one ever came back.
The window boxes are all now cracked.
They set up one light switch for the ENTIRE basement. So if I turn on my lights the main area, the undeveloped area lights turn on as well.
But, the biggest issue is not even 5 years after completion I noted that the floor seemed very soft in the bathroom. I then noticed a baseboard had water staining. This bathroom is not often used, as it’s our downstairs bathroom so it took time to notice the issue.
I removed the baseboard and immediately noticed it was wet, I then removed the cushion flooring which revealed a completely black floor. The toilet had been leaking for a significant amount of time.
I called/emailed the company, including the owner. He came out and offered a quote to fix it, stating he has only a two year warranty on work. However, it was very clear that this toilet has been leaking since installation and we believed it may have been poor workmanship that was the cause.
WFC offered me the information for the plumbing company who competed the work to contact them myself. I advised Walter that I felt like I paid WFC to complete the work, and I shouldn’t have to deal with his sub-contractors.
After some back and forth there was no resolution. We ended up having to get another contractor to come in and remove the flooring. To make a long story short, the new contractor was disgusted. WFC or it’s sub contractor did not install a toilet flange in our new bathroom, which they installed right from the studs. The contractor actually took photos of what they observed and told us that it was not up to standard.
This was brought up to WFC, we requested to rectify the issue informally and if we couldn’t, we could consider civil court. We assumed that it would be very fair and reasonable to rectify the issue as it was deplorable work completed. We could have understood if a pipe burst etc, but the damage was caused due to poor work. WFC response was to hire and lawyer and serve our family with a letter.
In the end I did not pursue it any further as it is probably a 1500-2000 dollar job and not worth the hassle of hiring a lawyer etc.
Please keep this in mind if you are considering WFC for any jobs. They state on their site they are family owned and operated, but their only concern is their bottom line and nothing else. Instead of meeting somewhere in the middle on, what in reality was not an expensive job, they took legal action as opposed to working toward a solution with a paying customer.

I would like to award WFC 5 stars for their exceptional services. The company displayed remarkable efficiency by completing my entire basement renovation promptly and with great initiative. Walter, the owner’s ability to anticipate and address potential future issues, along with recommendations, demonstrated his insightful approach to their work. Additionally, the commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment was highly commendable. Overall, I am thoroughly satisfied with their services and would highly recommend WFC for any contracting needs.

I had a flood in my basement that completely destroyed part of my rec room. the company came in and got everything sorted, cleaned it out and rebuilt the room. Floors, walls, plumbing, everything had to be replaced and they did a great job.

The second star was because the sub-contractors for electrical and roofing were 5 star companies.
When the owner for WFC Property Services arrived to inspect for a quote I thought I was in good hands; however, when the work was completed I could almost cry. My wife tells me to stop looking at the eyesores that were left behind because it just makes me upset.
I paid a professional to do the work so I could have a professional job done not to ‘just’ do the work. I could of did drywall, plaster and paint but I wanted a professional job once it was completed. I could of did a better final job then what we ended up with.
1) Wall erected - firstly it was put up in the wrong location and there was barely space to walk into the adjacent bedroom, there would not of been room to move furniture in and out. Owner did come and rip out the wall and re-installed it to specs that we had agreed upon but placed ripped up gypsum back on wall that required buckets of plaster to hide. End result is a wall in the proper location but a plaster job that could of been completed by my 13 year old and a corner that has tape exposed and another corner that is far from a straight line.
2) Electrical work - the electricians were fantastic but like most electrical renos there were drywall holes and groves cut out. So again the finished drywall and plaster job was the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve plastered rooms in the past, and I just wanted a professional to do the drywall and plaster this time, I regret that decision because my final result is better by far. I’ve actually considered contacting another plaster/painter to come in and fix everything but I spent my budget on WFC.
3) Painted walls - Again I paid a professional to have a professional end result. Far from professional quality. Some areas were not finished, my 13 year old keeps pointing out spaces that weren’t finished with a final coat, places with the wall colour on the ceiling, places where you can still see the underlaying plaster (gray). I mentioned to the painter that I can take off all the electrical covers and she said “naa, I’m really good a cutting in”, well the paint on the electrical covers says otherwise.
4) Double French door box rotated so door swing could go in opposite direction - the door no longer closes one at a time. I require to close both doors at same time in order to shut but this means that I can’t latch the main door so my dog opens the doors by pushing, my two year old niece can push the doors open and head to the stairs if your back is turned. So now it’s one more thing that I need to fix after paying a large sum of money to a “Professional”.
5) Baseboard trim - one area was left incomplete, another area there was about a cm gap under the baseboard, he said it was so I could fix up part of the floor but a cm is a bit excessive, now I have ~cm gap between the floor and the baseboard. Nail holes left in some baseboards.
6) Window placed in a wall to let light in a hallway - window wasn’t centered (very noticeable), trim for window isn’t plumb (very noticeable).
I told owner multiple times that I didn’t want it done fast, I wanted it done good but he seemed more interested in a completed job then a professional job. The business states that it’s owned by a military veteran which I’m all about supporting; however, I also am a military veteran (Afghanistan, Haiti) and I believe a business should strive for quality.
