We recently attempted to purchase a quick move-in home through Minto in Avalon and were left extremely disappointed by the unprofessionalism we encountered. Despite making a serious offer and expressing a clear willingness to negotiate, we were met with dismissive, one-word responses and erratic communication from the assigned sales agent. At no point did we feel like our interest in the property was taken seriously or handled with the level of respect expected in a real estate transaction of this magnitude.

What made the experience even more frustrating was the constant flip-flopping—first being told Minto was open to negotiation, only to be told later that they’re firm on asking price, with no explanation or constructive dialogue in between. This lack of transparency and basic courtesy made the process feel like a waste of time and energy.

We came to the table ready to work toward a fair agreement, but instead encountered rigid egos and communication that bordered on rude. For a company of Minto’s stature, this experience was deeply disappointing. Buyers deserve to be treated with professionalism, regardless of their offer. A little respect and open conversation could have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with no interest in continuing with Minto.

P.S. We even visited the Avalon sales office in person to express our concerns and were met with the same passive and dismissive attitude. We were told our offer—$48K below asking—was “too far off,” with no effort to engage in a constructive discussion. This only solidified our decision to walk away.

I recently purchased (2023) a Minto townhome in Avalon West and couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Peter, the sales representative, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable, patient, and always went above and beyond to ensure I found the perfect lot and model for my needs. His expertise and friendly demeanor made the buying process a breeze.
Once I selected my home, I worked with Victoria in design appointments. She was a pleasure to work with. Victoria’s design eye and patience were invaluable in helping me personalize my new space. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made the entire process fun and stress-free.
I can't wait to move into my new home and enjoy all that Avalon West has to offer. Thank you to Peter and Victoria for making this experience so positive!

The Sales Center was impressive. Peter was very knowledgable of the homes and building projects. He was able to answer all my questions, and provided more information to my inquiries. A very good experience. I will be visiting again if I have more questions.

Absolute piece of tool minto is. House basically built like an assembly line. So many issues quickly arise post move in. Called, emailed and went to their office and no one wants to deal with us. Ok so then contact the head office, same result, nothing, no reply. After putting throw with 20 emails and appointments they finally give a generic reply. Basically get the “not our problem” until your warranty runs out, then it’s definitely not their problem anymore. If you persist on following up with the issue you will receive a direct “please leave our premises” and kindly escorted out. I sometimes wonder if they are still a business, not taking responsibility for the poor job they have done on the houses. How is it that you treat your customers so poorly?

Have been in the home for 8 months now, and while buying Minto was great, dealing with warranty has been an absolute nightmare - tile popping because it wasn't back buttered, a door falling off the rail, grout cracking, and so on. Neither of the two warranty managers own my file or reply to my emails. Warranty techs that do the work are great, but getting things booked has been absolutely awful. I even emailed customer care, they don't even send a single email back.

Absolutely loved the experience of buying a home with Minto. Everyone has been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Best part is that the amazing customer service does not end after the purchase. Absolutely in love!

Buying a house is very stressful these days, building one would appear to be nerve-racking, right? I can assure you my present journey with the whole team of Minto is a first-class experience. I would love to give all the details and list the names of everyone, as they are all “AWESOME”, but I will keep it short.

I have to say we are returning customers, 10 years ago we built our first home with Minto, and we did not regret that decision, and now the company is getting bigger and stronger. Thanks for your dedication.

From the day we visited the sale center of Minto in Orleans, our choice was clear; we will build our future HOME again with Minto. Peter and Adam were “Awesome” at answering all our questions, which made us feel great about our decision. Peter, I will never forget when you run to the model home to make sure I took the right decision in my selections. Thanks, Peter, you are the best.

Design center. I still smile thinking about those hours spent at the design center, because I am seeing the results daily in my new home, and I LOVE it. Victoria was just “Amazing.” I am not a visual person, but I could envision all the selections we carefully put together, and I have to say, she was right. Do not let her know I said that. Victoria, keep up that excellent job.

Those steps were done, and we are still happy, but better said, we were exhilarated.

Minto construction team: Chance and Lee, thank you for adding only great memories to that adventure. You guys know your job, you do it with love. OK, after one e-mail sent to Chance, which I was not too happy about something, I thought he was not going to smile at me anymore, but no, he still does, and he made me smile back. This is customer service “top-notch” right there.

Now, yes now, we are in our lovely home, and OMG, the service, the dedication, and the attention to detail to make us happy are over the TOP. Yes, Jason, I am talking about the help you and your team have been providing.

Patrick comes here and helps me fix a few things and this is going above and beyond. No words to describe my satisfaction.

I promised to be short, but it is difficult to stop writing when you are happy and proud.

Long story short. Thanks to everyone, and thanks to the whole team. I did mention some names, but we had to deal with more people than that and they were all knowledgeable, nice, eager to help, and professional.

Congratulations on being crowned Production Builder of the Year.

N.B.: A few things need to be addressed, as we are presently working on our 30-day warranty review, I will keep you updated on my journey in a few months.

The best Minto office that I even dealt with, Peter is so professional and knowledgeable too, my clients and I are very happy with Peter’s service and his respectfulness. Always responds with very clear instructions. I will be back again.

You get what you pay for. It probably doesn't take much more work for me to have a 5 star experience, but details are over looked. Happy with sales center, design center and most of the build quality. But finishings start to fall apart after 30 day warranty period. Sounds go through the rooms easily, even after sound proof upgrade...
