Personal experience working here is like others have said, The Safety department needs far more of a first-hand education driving a truck. The management have never done the job they're in charge of, obviously.
Claims about taking Law and Security were made, but they never seem to understand laws properly when I am a Graduate from Mohawk College and repeatedly shake my head at the lack of understanding of industry-specific laws.
The safety department wasn't so lacking in industry issues that truly aren't drivers' fault's (They tell me it's only me when every driver I talk to says "The same things, get said to them", so they either pick on drivers they feel stand up to their wrongdoing or ones they have personal issues with)and maintenance was rarely performed when requested. They instead removed me from the truck, threw all my stuff in boxes without me present then terminated my employment after but didn't fix the truck. Only to realize I was past probation, so they hired me back.
True safety complaints I couldn't even bring up as they were more concerned with following to close or speeding than keeping with the flow of traffic and not impeding the flow of traffic, let alone an incident I had with a driver pulling on a bridge at the same time as me which went over bridge weight that I tried to discuss with them to a redirecting barrage of other issues they had when I brought it up.
A simple EGR valve was out on my truck, and causing nonstop derates with this truck.(PACCAR JUNK)..you'd rev high to try to get DEF to clean out, but then they'd give you bad reports on the A.I. monitoring camera system with Samsara for trying to rectify the problems.
They use the camera against the drivers here even though they tell you they don't in the initial interview.
Get everything in writing from these guys as they're bit of a hearsay utilizers.
They even got the whole company to sign in a safety meeting that 7 and 3's are legal in logging in a contract...
NO CLUE What they're doing with H.O.S.
A Tow Truck Driver before a safety "officer" as he calls it on his answering machine.....lol
They hand you a broken down Frankenstein Truck, broken fridge latch so your food Flys everywhere....lousy cheap dirty mattresses that hurts your back.
A dispatcher that loaded me with hazmat when you're unlicensed and they're unlicensed for it.
They handed me a truck with more damage than I could count and high mileage.
Then they tell you...YOU'RE the bad one...lol...nightmare.
Held me out for a month and three weeks after firing me.... to allow me back after a month and a half starving me....only to stick me in an older truck that broke down even more, knowing I had to run it just to feed me and my dog, then wouldn't assign me loads again affecting your pay.
The Samsara device I requested a harassment in the workplace against the malicious use and operation of a device that harasses employees as it goes off when you're doing nothing wrong and the way management utilizes it as a harassment tool against just certain driver's.
They have the potential to be a great company but go about things the wrong way with drivers. For that reason I give them two stars as there is major room for improvement on the way management handles things.
There are some that are decent and kind in this company though and that I can tell, as certain managers have talked properly and decently to me and treated me partially human.
They did however suspend me again by not assigning work to me and stated I was harassing them, long after I filed my initial harassment in the workplace request without getting me an impartial investigation.
Updated on April 21, Because Management said my review singled out a single individual too much which they may be right on. I'm not trying to cause them job losses or defamation here, as nearly every person that I've met who works here has been kind, but not always proper.
This review is based on my experiences as a Truck Driver Employee here.
Expect High turnover here, low pay and unjust treatment to the point you're made homeless.

JDW hauls loads for us regularly. We deal with rockstar Ben in dispatch. Their equipment is newer and trucks are on time for picks and drops. Superb communication. Drivers are always nice and know what they're doing. Would highly recommend their services.

I have personally witnessed no less then 6 of their drivers that can NOT read, understand nor follow basic English road signs and instructions. It’s quite sad that the company doesn’t realize this.

Update. 6 months now. Still liking it here. All around good people. From dispatch to the big guy. For the size of the company it still has that little company closeness. Safety 🦺 and costumers is number one. Dispatch works hard to get the loads. Not a lot of empty miles. If any. Do your job and stay out of the spotlight. Recommend company.

Extremely dangerous driving by truck number 2438 on the 401 west bound near Ingersoll. This driver is going to kill somebody. Road rage has no place on our highways.

I urge the bosses at JDW to deal with this problem driver.

I have dashcam and the incident will be reported to OPP.

Garbage senseless driver! Drove on pavement near toll booths and swinged in fast lanes. Then complained to the toll guys he was waiting for 2 hours. Also his truck is blowing black smoke. Avoid this company!!! May 27 3:50pm
