My house was completed in early 2010. We're still discovering design/install/build issues. On day one, we found phone plugs where Ethernet plugs were supposed to be... all kitchen plugs for small appliances were on the same breaker (couldn't run a toaster oven and microwave at the same time, no matter which combination of plugs we tried), and since day one, the central AC thermal pump, rated at 4.5 tons, the absolute bare minimum for the size of house, is incapable of cooling the second floor, to any comfortable level (no combination of open/closed air registers would work well enough)... only several years later, when the unit failed, and a capacitor needed replacing, did we discover that Pentian construction used one size too small copper piping between the outside and inside units, leading to poor performance when cooling the house in the summer.

When the water heater failed and started leaking, the water spread across the concrete floor of the utility room, under the door sill and into the garage... why? because the utility room drain is not the lowest point of the floor, and the water heater did not have a drain pan underneath it, a 20$ part (couldn't install it myself after, the unit was impossible to lift, due to rigid pipe connections and extremely cramped space in the tiny utility room).

While replacing the water heater, we discovered mold and water damage in the ceiling area of the utility room... somewhere above, from one of the bathrooms, a slow leak, over several years, caused thousands of dollars of water damage, only to be discovered when mold grows through the panel and shows on the other side... From observing the floor framing and electrical cable runs in the exposed basement ceiling, it became apparent, over time, this is not a quality construction, certainly not for a half a million dollar house (in 2009). As a first time home buyer, I should have hired an expert for the final inspection before moving in...

I'll have to slowly fix up everything over the next few years, sell the house, and build a new one, by overseeing the entire process, hiring a designer, competent contractors and sign off on every single piece of material used... that's the only way you can have a well built house in Quebec, otherwise, every cost cutting opportunity will be exploited to its fullest potential, that's the modus operandi of residential constructors like Pentian.

The issues in our apartment weren’t fixed for 5 months. Just promises, but not actual work. Nothing is done. Do not recommend for serious people, you don’t want to deal with them.
