Update - I didn’t think our experience could get worse but here we are. We finally got into our home in July. We were told an hour after we were supposed to get keys that the occupancy permit wasn’t fully approved yet. We contacted the city to find out that Larran had been advised multiple times in writing about the permit not getting approved on time, yet in true Park Royal fashion they failed to communicate that to us until after our possession time had passed.

We have had 2 plumbing leaks in 2 months causing drywall to be cut open and cupboards needing to be replaced due to faulty rough ins. They have a “smart home package” which is a dimmer switch that causes the lights to flicker. Park Royal says that because the lights turn on and off that’s the intended purpose of the switch and they won’t be fixing it. They have been horrific to deal with. They don’t respond to communication unless it’s quick to say not our problem.

I debated whether or not to post a review on google as I was worried it would hinder Park Royal from prioritizing and completing (or even starting) our home in Dansereau in Beaumont, however, at this point we are out of options on what to do or who to contact and our experience couldn’t really get worse so might as well warn other potential buyers.

We gave Park Royal our deposit 4 months ago. Prior to giving the deposit our sales associate, Dan, was very engaged and responsive. Unfortunately, once they received our money that all changed. We went 3 months without any response to our emails or calls, despite following up and reaching out for updates and clarification on our questions on a regular basis.

After months of our sales person, Dan, ignoring us, we contacted the VP Miles who told us we were matched with their most dedicated and experienced sales person and that we would start receiving better communication moving forward as he was going to personally speak with him about our concerns; he also never acknowledged or apologized for the experience we had had to date so I was less than hopeful this response would turn everything around, but nevertheless I thanked him for his response and advised we would touch base in 1 month to give an update.

Finally, Dan reached out almost 3 months after his last communication (and almost 3 weeks after we contacted Miles) for a meeting where he told us permits would be approved and digging would commence right away. This meeting was 2.5 weeks ago and permits, to date, still aren’t approved. We called Miles to discuss our grievances yet again on just over 1 month after our initial contact with Miles and he has not returned that call as of 2 business days later.

We were told prior to giving our deposit, a hole would be in the ground in August or at the latest September. When we met with Dan on October 2 he advised it would be only days left for permits, staking and digging. It’s now mid-October and all we have is a lot with broken pallets in it, unapproved permits and some more unanswered communications.

I understand building a home is a huge process and delays happen but Park Royal blatantly ignoring our communication is frustrating and unacceptable. We have no idea what is going on with our home.

I would strongly advise not going into business with this builder. They were great until we paid them then they had our money and stopped caring about making sure we were happy, satisfied and informed with our experience. The sales person will sell an experience where you should “ask a lot of questions” and state “he’s here to help” then stop responding to you when the sale goes through. Dan is great at reeling in a sale but terrible with following through with anything once that sale goes through.

My husband and I were so excited to build our first home and since we handed over the deposit we have felt nothing but disappointment, extreme frustration and feeling like Park Royal could care less about us as customers or building our home. Save yourself the heart ache and stress and find another company to instill your trust in.
