I wish I could leave a zero!
Skyline, what is going on with your management?!!! Why are you guys not fixing what is wrong in your buildings!? My kids are paying almost two thousand dollars a month to live there and deal with cockroaches, mold ( that took MONTHS to fix) , heat off in the winter, water turned off without notice, notcie of entry written in pen!!!! This is unacceptable!!!! How do you expect people to live like this. My grand daughter is expected to crawl on the floors with cock roaches!!? This is unacceptable living conditions. My daughter keeps an impeccable apartment. They are scared to let their baby crawl on the floor. DO SOMETHING!!!!

I’m not one to leave nasty reviews but for anyone considering moving here DONT. I moved here this August, I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter when we chose to rent here as I was told it’s a decent place to live. Since living here I’ve experienced problem, after problem with little to no resolution. For starters, we had black mold growing on our bathroom ceiling, for months I contacted skyline & even as far as head office. I had someone come look at the ceiling & they proceeded to use my personal vacuum that I clean my home with to vacuum out the bathroom fan. Then I was told to contact them if there’s further issues with mold… the mold was never removed lol! They didn’t treat the bathroom, do a barrier paint, nothing! I contacted the property manager enraged and asked that someone come properly handle the issue. They treated the bathroom and did a barrier paint, however this took months of consistently houding them about it even after having mentioned my infant daughter is breathing in mold when I bath her! Unacceptable. Now that’s just the start, then comes the cockroaches! Let me start by saying I am a professional cleaner by trade & I keep an immaculate home. I have killed multiple cockroaches in my unit and I believe the building is infested with them. I will attach a photo below as proof of this… we also woke up recently to a freezing cold apartment with no heat, & to mention we do not have control of the heat here as the building is set to one temperature. I spoke to other tenants in the building and they informed me they had no heat either, I had to contact head office on a weekend for them to come get the heat back on. For 6 months I was receiving someone else’s hydro bills, and not my own. This was brought up many times and took 6 months to rectify. I ended up having to pay 6 months of hydro upfront because they misspelled my email!! So because of a spelling mistake on their end, I had no choice but to pay hundreds of dollars worth of a bill that should’ve been sent to me monthly. I have a child to provide for, & we pay almost 2,000$ a month just to live here! But wait I’m still not done, I’ve had notices for snow removal in the parking lot taped directly to my door, but they fail to do the same when they’re turning the water in the building off for maintenance which might I add is multiple times a month. They will post one singular piece of paper on the main lobby doors and expect for everyone to see it, but can individually let us know about snow removal. I’ve woken up many times to no water without proper notice. For any parents of young infants reading this I’m sure you can assume how difficult it is to go the entire day with no water! They turn it off from 9 am - 5 pm. That’s an entire work days worth of no water with little to no notice! There is police here constantly, hostile tenants that I’ve opened my door to screaming in the hallways. Peoples animals leave poop in the halls and stair wells. I have lived in the country most of my life, never dealt with worms in my animals EVER! Since living here I have had to take my dogs and my cats to the vet because of worms, I cannot help but think it’s due to the lack of cleanliness here because as mentioned this has never been an issue for me prior and I’ve had animals all my life. Myself aswell as my partner and my child have been sick on and off for months. It’s a general feeling of unwell, it’s like we’re almost always sick. I’ve had to take my daughter to the hospital & at certain points was worried for her breathing. This place is not healthy!! The staff clearly do not care for the well being of their tenants, I will be contacting the landlord and tenants board this week about all of the issues I’ve experienced here aswell as my lawyer. I refuse to live like this when they charge top dollar to live here this place is an absolute dump & skyline should be ashamed. Nobody deserves to live this way! Please choose somewhere else to rent if you value your safety, & mental health. This is not the place for you.

Poor management. Poor communication with management to head office. We had 4 different building managers during a 1 year lease. For a low end building with bug infestations, the price sure is high.

Horrible experience, skyline apartments has become a dump, it's a haven for junkies and trailer trash, especially the 6th Ave area of Owen Sound, it's run by corrupt individuals who simply do not care. Avoid at all cost.

If you only work one job and need to support your kids or animals You probably won't be able to afford to live here. They charge you for any upkeep they do to the building, (They build a new shed for recycling bins $30 gets added to everybody rent even though it goes against the minimal rent increase per year law. Grey County Housing should keep better track of these apartment buildings and what's going on within them! Also, you are charged $6 to $8 just to do a single load of laundry which adds up fast. And You will hear fire alarms and construction happening 24/7 with no warning.

On the whole, I'm happy with my apartment, and it's location, but very unhappy with the property managers here. I think they should be replaced.
They are playing favourites, and trying to get those of us who have been here a long time to move out, by throwing roadblocks at us.
I've been in this apartment since 2001, I'm semi disabled with only one lung due to cancer.
One of my biggest joys in life is feeding the birds and squirrels on my patio. I got harassed by the property manager all last summer, saying I was attracting rats to the building. I was told to stop feeding, or I would be billed an extermination fee for cleanup.
She said a letter would be going around to everyone in the building stating this. No letter was sent to anyone, including myself. She was bluffing. There are bird feeders up on the north side of the building and the parking lot side. She was just targeting myself. It caused me a huge amount of anxiety last summer.
Those birds and animals are my world, I'm a nature photographer and get a lot of pleasure out of photographing and interacting with them, so do my close neighbours (who by the way are also long time residents, she wants them out as well, so she can jack the rents.)
You'd think they would be thankful to have reliable renters in the building, that faithfully pay on time every month., but not her. She gives certain people a pass on things and on others, she harasses and nitpicks, causing anxiety. I want this to stop, now.
I've looked at the Skyline rules and found nothing about not feeding birds with feeders.
If there are rats, they come down from the rail trail behind the building and hang out at the garbage bins in the parking lot, they've been seen. Then they migrate around the building, doing what rats do, looking for food.
If there is a rat problem, it's their responsibility to get rid of them, not the tenants. Some of my neighbours took it upon themselves to buy rat poison and put it down any holes that were seen. It's not our job to do this, it's theirs.
There were no rats sighted on my side of the building from July on, we took care of the problem.
My patio door was frozen shut for over a week in January (never happened before). I emailed them about the problem, nobody got back to me, a frozen patio door is a safety issue, should there have been a fire. I tried everything to unfreeze it, nothing worked. I had to wait until the temperature went up.
Last winter my apartment was freezing in February, I emailed them, because we can't control our own heat here. They came in a couple of times, but nothing that I could see fixed the problem. I had to wear heavy sweaters and socks, and keep a blanket handy. This year has been better temperature--wise.
I really don't think this couple are treating everyone in this building equally, and it needs to be fixed. I'm not moving out, if that is their goal. Neither are my neighbours. We have a right to live here without fear of harassment, and waiting to see what she'll target next for one us.
The police have been to this building a lot over the past year, I don't think they're being very careful of who they rent to. It's nerve wracking to see the police here so many times.
I think a change in leadership would make some of us feel more at ease, people that are approachable, kind and compassionate. Easy to talk to and feel at ease bringing any concerns to. That's not the case at the moment. Just seeing her, makes my anxiety spike, this shouldn't be.
I pay my rent on time, have never caused any issues in all my time here.
I've caught her twice during the summer coming to my patio and taking photos. What is she doing with those photos?
If she has a problem, come talk to me directly, and be civil, not accusatory.
I do not want to face another summer, worrying about what she is going to harass me about next. I want to be able to enjoy my patio garden and feeding my birds. Thank You. M. Sargeant

Caution, I know someone who lives there and they're forcing them to sign a slumlord contract just so they can use the laundry services again. If you're on ODSP, you will not be able to afford to live there. They will charge you for any upkeep they do to the building even though it goes against the minimal rent increase per year law. If you have a choice, do NOT live here. Grey County Housing should keep better track of these apartments and what's going on within them!
tristan I.
Took months for them to even come look at the leak we had in the bathroom cieling, they said they called a "plumber" had it fixed but there was a bit of mold up there and it had to b replaced. Fast foreward another couple weeks its leaking worse than ever i look up there myself and the whole cieling is full of black mold, we have no place else to go and i have 2 very young little girls so i have to cut all the mold out myself. The cieling is still daily leaking into a bucket and still nobody has been by to even look at it. Not impressed how do you even keep any tenants.
